Hollywood has once again paid tribute to one of its most beloved stars, Chadwick Boseman, as the late actor was posthumously honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The emotional ceremony, held on November 20, comes five years after the Black Panther icon passed away at the age of 43 following a private battle with colon cancer.

The event was filled with touching moments, but none more significant than the gesture made by his widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman.

To ensure Chadwick’s presence was symbolically felt, Simone placed a pair of his shoes on the newly unveiled star, creating the sentiment that he was “stepping” on the memorial with her, his brothers Derrick and Kevin Boseman, and everyone who loved him.

The family also displayed a framed portrait of the actor, which they held proudly as they took photos together.

The ceremony drew several of Boseman’s colleagues from the film industry, many of whom had worked closely with him.

His Black Panther co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Letitia Wright were present, standing as a strong reminder of the bond they shared both on and off set.

Director Ryan Coogler, who guided Boseman through the groundbreaking Marvel film, also honoured his memory, while Viola Davis, his co-star in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, delivered a heartfelt tribute.

Simone, who had quietly married Chadwick months before his death, gave an emotional speech that reflected the depth of the actor’s influence on those around him.

She described him as more than a performer, calling him “a spiritual teacher” strengthened by family, faith and a support system that protected him throughout his career. She thanked the colleagues and friends who believed in him and who, in her words, “forged a real brotherhood” with him.

She spoke of his generosity, saying, “Chad taught all of us a great deal. His heart was so vast he could give each and every person a specific part of him and still have so much left to share with the world.”

Simone also addressed Chadwick directly, noting that she continues to feel his presence daily despite his absence. She celebrated his artistry and the legacy he left behind, telling him,

“We recognize your skill and your devotion, and we submit your legacy as a hero and an icon. You lived with honor and you walked in truth. You are as brilliant as you were beautiful and as courageous as you were kind.”

She concluded her tribute with three powerful sentences: “We love you. We miss you. We thank you.”

Chadwick Boseman’s star now stands as a lasting symbol of his exceptional contributions to film, culture and global storytelling. From 42 to Marshall, from Get On Up to his legendary role as King T’Challa, his impact remains alive, powerful and deeply felt.
