Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has officially received her second Guinness World Record, this time for creating the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
Guinness World Records confirmed that the Lagos-based cookout in September saw Hilda prepare a remarkable 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice.
This achievement comes just over a year after her first record, earned in May 2023 for completing a 93-hour, 11-minute non-stop cooking marathon. With two Guinness titles, Hilda is now Nigeria’s first chef to hold multiple world records.
All of the jollof rice from the record-setting event was shared among attendees and donated to charitable organisations, meeting Guinness’ strict verification standards.
Celebrating her accomplishment on social media, Hilda reflected on her journey, faith, and the pride of representing Nigeria on a global stage:
“Your plaques are finally here!!! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria. And not just any records — two of the biggest culinary records ever set. Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves — a story that reached over 5 billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose. I’m a two-time world record holder, someone pinch me.”
She also drew inspiration from scripture, writing: “A two time Guinness World Record Holder !!! Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours. Isaiah 61:7.”
Hilda’s latest accomplishment solidifies her reputation as a pioneering Nigerian chef, inspiring countless others while showcasing the country’s culinary creativity on the global stage.
