Popular Lagos socialite and nightclub entrepreneur Pretty Mike has been granted ₦50 million bail by the Federal High Court in Lagos following his arraignment over alleged involvement in drug-related activities.

Pretty Mike, whose real name is Mike Nwalie, appeared before Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa on Thursday alongside Joachim Hillary (32), the supervisor of his club, Proxy Lagos, located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island.

The pair were arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of narcotics, and allowing their club premises to be used for drug-related offences.

According to the NDLEA’s lead prosecutor, Buhari Abdullahi, the defendants were alleged to have organised a drug-themed party at the club on October 26, 2025, where operatives reportedly discovered 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide (commonly known as laughing gas), weighing a total of 364.662 kilograms.

Abdullahi further told the court that Hillary, the club’s supervisor, was caught in possession of the cannabis without authorisation, while Pretty Mike was accused of permitting his premises to be used for the unlawful activity.

The prosecution stated that the alleged offences violated Sections 14(b) and 20(1)(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, and are punishable under Sections 20(2)(b) and 12 of the same Act.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following their plea, the prosecution requested that the court fix a date for trial, while the defence counsel, Dr. B.S. Awosika (SAN), applied for bail on behalf of his clients, urging the court to grant them release on liberal terms.

Awosika argued that the defendants had no prior criminal record and had demonstrated full cooperation with investigators. “The prosecution has not presented any compelling reason to deny them bail,” he said.

However, Abdullahi opposed the motion, contending that the defendants had not provided sufficient material facts to support their bail request and instead called for an accelerated hearing.

Delivering his ruling, Justice Lewis-Allagoa held that the accused remained innocent until proven guilty, adding that the burden was on the prosecution to provide concrete grounds for denying bail.

He subsequently granted bail to each defendant in the sum of ₦50 million, with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to submit an affidavit of means, and the judge ordered that the defendants be released to their counsel pending the completion of bail conditions.

The case was then adjourned to January 14, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

This ruling comes shortly after the same property housing Proxy Lagos Nightclub was subjected to an interim forfeiture order by the court following NDLEA’s claim that the venue had been used for drug storage and distribution.

With the trial date set, all eyes will be on the court to determine whether the high-profile socialite and his club supervisor will face conviction or acquittal in one of Lagos’ most talked-about narcotics-related cases of the year.
