Contrary to recent reports, veteran Nollywood actor Chief Lere Paimo MFR, popularly known as Eda Onileola, is alive and well, his Personal Assistant and the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) have confirmed.
The actor’s PA, Ariyo, dismissed the viral death rumours as “a figment of imagination,” telling ogbomosoinsightonline.com:
“Baba is very much alive, he is not dead. It is unfortunate how people could be despicable. I am with Baba now and there is nothing like that. Baba is still asleep.”
Ariyo added that false reports of Paimo’s death have become an annual occurrence. “It has become an annual ritual for bloggers to break such news about his death. But Baba always heap curses on them,” he noted.
The ANTP also released an official statement signed by Prince Adejonwo Oluwafemi Femson, the national PRO, reaffirming the actor’s good health and calling on the public to verify news before sharing. The statement read:
“Baba Eda, Chief Lere Paimo MFR is NOT Dead. He is alive and well. Disregard all rumours.
“We would like to inform the public that reports circulating on Facebook about the passing of Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR) are FALSE.
“We have confirmed with Baba Eda Onile Ola’s wife that he is alive and in good health. Please disregard these false reports and be aware that they are being spread by unscrupulous individuals.
“Chief Olalere OsunPaimo (MFR), Chairman Board of Trustees, Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), is alive and well. We urge everyone to verify information before sharing to avoid spreading misinformation.”
The clarification ends speculation and reassures fans that one of Nollywood’s legendary figures remains in good health.
