Former Big Brother Naija star, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has voiced her frustration over what she describes as the unfair treatment of women in Nigeria.

The reality TV star lamented that being a woman in the country “feels like a crime,” following the backlash actress Regina Daniels received after revealing she was allegedly raped, drugged, and beaten.

Tacha expressed her disappointment on her X (formerly Twitter) handle, criticizing Nigerians for turning a serious allegation into mockery rather than demanding justice. She noted that instead of sympathizing with Regina or seeking accountability, many social media users attacked her for her lifestyle and wealth.

“Being a woman in this part of the world feels like a crime,” Tacha wrote. “Someone cries out that she’s been raped, drugged, and beaten, and instead of outrage, society starts dragging her for flying private jets and traveling the world.

So because she lived well, she deserves to be abused? That’s the sickness of this society  a place where people justify violence against women but envy their freedom.”

She went on to emphasize that the public reaction to the actress’s ordeal reflects the deeper rot in society and the lack of empathy towards victims of gender-based violence. Tacha questioned what future the Nigerian girl child has if society continues to ridicule women who speak up about their trauma.

“At this point, what hope does the girl child even have?” she asked, using the hashtags #ProtectWomen and #JusticeForReginaDaniels.

Tacha’s comments came shortly after fellow BBNaija alum, Phyna, also weighed in on the matter. Phyna condemned the public indifference toward Regina Daniels’ claims, expressing shock that people found amusement in a case involving rape and drugging.

“A girl gets injected and raped in a man’s house, steady hospital yet everybody is laughing. Omo…Being a woman is hard,” she posted.

Both reality stars’ reactions have sparked conversations online about how Nigerian society often trivializes sexual assault cases, particularly when the victims are celebrities or women living comfortably.

Many social media users have supported Tacha’s stance, agreeing that misogyny and victim-blaming remain widespread problems.

Meanwhile, some critics argue that celebrities like Regina Daniels often use their influence selectively, further fueling public skepticism when they make sensitive claims.

However, women’s rights advocates insist that such opinions only reinforce the toxic culture that discourages victims from speaking up.

Tacha, who is known for her outspoken nature, has long been vocal about issues affecting women and societal double standards.

Her recent remarks continue to shed light on the everyday struggles women face in Nigeria, where gender inequality, moral judgment, and online harassment remain prevalent.

As the conversation unfolds, Tacha’s message resonates as a call for empathy and accountability, urging Nigerians to focus on justice rather than judgment whenever issues of abuse arise.
