Three Afrobeats greats—2Baba, Faze and 9ice—are billed to lead the entertainment lineup for the third edition of MainlandLaffs, the annual comedy and music showcase set to hold on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
This year’s edition, themed “Legends Decemba,” will take place at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja. The show will mark a major moment in Nigerian entertainment history, bringing members of the iconic Plantashun Boyz on stage together for the first time in nearly two decades.
The evening will also feature top comedians including BasketMouth, Kenny Blaq, Dr Smiles, Husband Material, 16 Oniru, Omini Aho, MC Bishop and Larry J.
Speaking about the inspiration behind MainlandLaffs, Executive Producer Mannie Udoh explained that the event was created to challenge the perception that only Lagos Island hosts premium entertainment.
“We are a family entertainment brand and our USP is that we host the biggest family entertainment events on the Lagos Mainland,” he said.
Udoh added that each edition is designed to elevate quality and scale. “This is why over the years we have continued to ensure that we take the quality of entertainment higher with every edition. This year, Sunday December 7 will be a full day of fun, excitement and quality entertainment, with three mega events in one,” he stated.
A Full Day of Festivities
Festivities will kick off at noon with the Christmas Pop-Up Sales Party, which will host more than 100 vendors offering discounted items, food, drinks, and freebies. The first 100 shoppers will also receive a free Christmas hamper.
The first stage event, Decemba2Rememba, begins at 2 PM. Designed as a massive gospel-themed music and comedy show, it will feature performances from Angeloh, Oba Reengy and Protek Illasheva, with DJ Horphuray supplying music and Blackboy MCM hyping the crowd. Actress and influencer Ruby—known for her role as Nnenna in Far From Home—will anchor the red carpet.
The main concert, scheduled for 5 PM, will see 2Baba, Faze and 9ice headline the night alongside comedians Phronesis, Husband Material, Dr Smiles, 16 Oniru, Omini Aho, MC Bishop, Abaire.com and emerging acts. Amanda Dara of the OpenUp podcast will host the red carpet for the evening session.

Celebrating Lagos Mainland
Olumide Campbell, Show Promoter and Country Manager for Etu Odi Communications, emphasized that the event aims to reflect more than just entertainment. According to him, MainlandLaffs is designed to spotlight the spirit of Lagos Mainland.
“Every detail of the evening, from the backdrop design and table arrangements (named after specific Lagos Communities) to the branding and LED backdrop has been thoughtfully curated to highlight the distinct identity of our state, showcasing the Lagos Mainland as the epicenter of the fun and creativity that makes up this Centre of Excellence,” he said.
Campbell also praised the venue, noting that “The Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton is a premium location that is perfect for an event of this class, it is situated in the heart of the capital city of Lagos and offers space and convenience, from an ample parking lot to high level security, serene environment, classy indoor aesthetics and lots more.”
