The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has officially launched applications for its 9th Edition Diamond Showcase, a prestigious platform created to highlight Africa’s most promising emerging music talents. The announcement, made in a press statement on Tuesday, marks the beginning of an exciting opportunity for singers, rappers, DJs, producers, and instrumentalists across the continent to showcase their skills to a global audience.
The Diamond Showcase was established to give undiscovered artists a unique chance to gain industry recognition and take a significant step toward mainstream success. The initiative provides not only visibility but also mentorship and access to key industry players, creating a pathway for young creatives to accelerate their careers.
Janatte Haddadi, AFRIMA’s Regional Manager for Northern Africa, emphasized the life-changing potential of the platform. She explained, “Many gifted African artists often remain unheard within their communities despite having exceptional potential. The Diamond Showcase aims to bridge that gap by providing visibility, mentorship, and industry access.”
Haddadi urged artists eager to seize the opportunity to act promptly. Applications for the 2025 edition will run from November 18 to December 8, and interested candidates can submit their entries via the official portal at afrima.org/Diamond-Showcase or through AFRIMA’s Instagram page. Applicants are required to upload a 45-second performance video, which will be reviewed by the AFRIMA Jury.
Following the submission period, the jury will shortlist the top 15 finalists, referred to as “The Diamonds.” These selected artists will be invited to Lagos for the live Showcase, scheduled to take place on January 6–7, 2026, with performances running from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM each evening.
The finalists will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Lagos, exclusive AFRIMA merchandise, mentorship sessions, and the invaluable opportunity to perform before influential music executives, media houses, and industry leaders. “We want to find the brightest diamonds in the rough across Africa,” Haddadi said. “If you believe in your gift, this is the time to act. Don’t wait. Don’t hold back. Submit your entry. Africa is ready to meet its next big talents.”
The Diamond Showcase is part of a series of activities leading up to the 9th AFRIMA Awards, which will be held in Lagos from January 7 to 11, 2026. The week-long event will include the Africa Music Business Summit, the Music Village Concert, the Nominees Party, the Red Carpet, and the grand Awards Night. In partnership with the African Union and the Lagos State Government, the ceremony is set to be broadcast to more than 84 countries worldwide, providing a global platform for African music.
By offering a structured platform for young talent, the Diamond Showcase continues to reinforce AFRIMA’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of African music stars. For artists ready to take their first major step toward recognition, this represents a golden opportunity to shine on a continental—and ultimately global—stage.
