Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has taken legal action against fellow actress Peggy Ovire following an alleged assault on a film set. The dispute gained widespread attention after Arimoro shared a viral video last week, accusing Peggy and her team of physically attacking him during a shoot.
In his account, Arimoro claimed that Peggy instructed her driver to block his car, preventing him from leaving the set, and that the tyres of his vehicle were deflated. He also displayed visible injuries to his lips and gums in the video.
Responding to the allegations, Peggy Ovire accused Taye of assaulting two of her crew members during the shoot. She stated that by the time she stepped in to intervene, the situation had already escalated. Peggy alleged that Taye drove off while she was near the car, and that her driver sustained injuries to his ear, reportedly after being struck multiple times.
However, CCTV footage of the incident later surfaced online, appearing to contradict Peggy’s version of events. The video reportedly shows the actress removing her wig, handing a phone to someone, and appearing ready to engage in a confrontation with Arimoro.
On his Instagram page, Arimoro shared screenshots of the legal complaints he filed against Peggy, demanding a public apology and N100 million in compensation.
In a letter dated November 18, 2025, from Inibehe Effiong Chambers, Arimoro alleged that his rights were violated while on set. According to the letter, his vehicle was obstructed by the production manager, while another car blocked the exit. He claimed that he started an Instagram live session for safety after receiving threats and alleged that Peggy attempted to delete evidence from his phone.
Arimoro also documented physical injuries, including a fractured mandible, bite marks, and bruises. His lawyers argued that his rights to personal liberty, movement, and dignity were violated, in addition to the emotional trauma, psychological stress, and loss of earnings he suffered.
The actor is now demanding a public video apology to be posted across all Peggy Ovire’s social media platforms, alongside N100 million in damages. His legal team has issued a seven-day ultimatum for her to respond, warning of further legal consequences if she fails to comply.
The pre-action notice sent to Peggy reads:
“@peggyovire, PRE-ACTION NOTICE. In light of the incident referenced in this correspondence, you have been served. Kindly forward all responses to my solicitors as indicated.”
This latest development marks a serious escalation in the dispute between the two actors, drawing attention to workplace safety and conduct on Nollywood sets.
