Nigerian influencer and media personality, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, has expressed deep frustration over what he described as the worsening insecurity crisis sweeping across the country.

His reaction came after a disturbing attack on a church in Kwara State, where gunmen opened fire during a service, sending worshippers scrambling for safety. A livestream from the church captured terrified members running in different directions as shots rang out.

Sharing his thoughts on Twitter, Enioluwa said the video exposed the harsh and terrifying reality that anyone can become a victim of Nigeria’s insecurity at any moment.

He emphasised that what happened in that church could happen anywhere, stressing that Nigerians now live with fear as a constant companion.

In another post, he strongly criticised Nigerian leaders for what he described as their “complete lack of care and compassion” towards the lives lost almost daily across the country.

He wrote, “One of the biggest problems with leadership in this country is the complete lack of care and compassion. Something terrible can happen, and by the next day the leaders in that state are hosting a party; no awareness, no empathy, no sense of responsibility.”

The influencer said the behaviour of those in authority reveals a disconnect from the pain of ordinary citizens, adding that many leaders carry on with celebrations even when tragedies occur under their watch. According to him, this attitude fuels the growing distrust Nigerians feel toward the political class.

Reflecting on the church attack, Enioluwa said he was deeply haunted by the image of an elderly woman running for her life in the chaos. He noted that although people wanted to help her, fear forced them to think of their own safety first.

“I can’t shake the image of that old woman running for her life; everyone too terrified to help because they’re trying to save themselves too,” he wrote.

He added that no one wants to die such a senseless death, and the most heartbreaking part of the incident is that it happened so close to him. He described the situation as tragic and unacceptable, adding that living in Nigeria now feels increasingly unsafe.

In an earlier tweet, Enioluwa highlighted what he called the “numbness” Nigerians have developed due to the frequency of violent attacks.

“The scary thing right now is how often we hear bad news,” he wrote. “It becomes too frequent that after a while, you start to feel numb. It begins to sound normal; doesn’t make you flinch, doesn’t make you sad, just sounds normal. And honestly, the moment tragedy starts to feel normal, it is a dangerous place to be. This is a very dangerous place to be.”

His comments have sparked wide reactions online, with many Nigerians agreeing that insecurity has become an everyday fear and that leaders must do more to protect citizens.
