Christmas is a season filled with warmth, love, and the comforting magic of movies that bring families together.
In Nigeria, the festive season has inspired some remarkable Nollywood Christmas films such as Christmas in Lagos by Jade Osiberu, A Naija Christmas by Kunle Afolayan, and A Danfo Christmas by Sebastian Ukwa. But this time, Nollywire turned the tables and asked seven passionate Nollywood lovers Nollyphiles to imagine what their perfect Christmas movies would look like if they had ₦100 million to produce them. The result was a fascinating mix of heart, humour, and holiday spirit.
A Single Father – Carer Romance by Nnamdi Kanaga
Kanaga envisioned a tender story where love blossoms in the simplest moments. With Kemi Adetiba directing and stars like Osas Ighodaro and Wale Ojo, his film follows a widowed father battling terminal illness who finds love with his children’s carer. His final Christmas becomes a celebration of life, love, and peaceful closure surrounded by family.
Christmas and Us by Alalade Otitooluwa
Otitooluwa’s emotional family drama would feature Osas Ighodaro and Adeoluwa Akintoba under Kunle Afolayan’s direction. It follows three siblings navigating loss, single motherhood, and illness as they rediscover the joy of family during Christmas.
Christmas in the Compound by Nighty
Nighty’s festive comedy would see Kemi Adetiba directing Toyin Abraham as a nosy landlady alongside Uzor Arukwe as her charming neighbour. The film explores grief, love, and how a community finds laughter again through unexpected bonds.
The Lighthouse Christmas by Leronzo Menakaya
Menakaya’s nostalgic romance, directed by Jade Osiberu, tells of a city architect who returns home to restore her town’s iconic lighthouse, finding love with a local carpenter in the process.
Saving Christmas, the Corporate Way by Amidu Ganiyu
In this high-stakes drama, Wale Ojo stars as a CEO fighting bankruptcy, supported by Adesua Etomi as his loyal employee. Directed by Kemi Adetiba, it mixes corporate pressure with the redemptive power of hope and holiday miracles.
Older Love, Younger Heart by Ojebiyi Fisayo
Fisayo’s story challenges societal norms through a young man’s love for an older woman, exploring courage and acceptance during the holidays. Jade Osiberu would bring this thought-provoking romance to life with Osas Ighodaro and Wale Ojo in leading roles.
A Christmas for the People by Kenny Ajuwa
Ajuwa’s political satire celebrates unity and hope, following three politicians-turned-friends who use their influence to gift Nigerians the most precious thing hope. With Ruby Akubueze, Adesua Etomi, and Osas Ighodaro, it promises laughter, love, and patriotism.
From romantic tenderness to corporate chaos and political warmth, these imagined Christmas stories reflect how deeply Nollywood fans connect with tales of love, resilience, and togetherness.
Each concept proves that Nigerian creativity shines brightest during the holidays, reminding us that Christmas isn’t just about lights or gifts it’s about the stories that bring us home.
