Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yomi Fabiyi has created a stir online after publicly expressing his admiration and support for Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner, Imisi.
Imisi was crowned the winner of the reality show on Sunday, October 5, taking home the ₦159 million grand prize, which included cash, an SUV, and additional sponsored gifts. She emerged victorious over first runner-up Dede, who garnered 15.94% of the votes, and third-place finisher Koyin with 15.23%. The top five was rounded out by Sultana (7.94%) and Kola (5.48%), with the finale featuring nine contestants: Kaybobi, Isabella, Jason Jae, Mensan, Kola, Sultana, Koyin, Dede, and Imisi.
On Instagram, Fabiyi revealed that Imisi is his protege at Rocklaf Studio Film Academy. Sharing a video from his birthday and housewarming party attended by Imisi, he praised her for always being happy for others. “She is always happy for others. She was happy for me during my birthday and housewarming, that informs why I have to reciprocate, aside from her being one of mine in Rocklaf Studio Film Academy 🎥. Congratulations once again. A big win,” he wrote.
In earlier posts, he celebrated her victory and thanked fans for their support. “The WINNER, THE CHAMPION is my girl @imisiofficial #ijoba606. Thank you all colleagues, friends, fans, and well-wishers. I am overwhelmed. The sound of joy and congratulations will not cease in your household too. To my IMISI, it is your time to shine. Rocklaf! We Rise Together! Congrats, dear,” he added.
Fabiyi also emphasized the unity and shared success with his student: “ROCKLAF TO THE WORLD. IMISI TO THE WORLD. Rocklaf! We Rise Together! Congratulations to my girl IMISI mi. We won.”
His posts have sparked mixed reactions online. Some fans praised his support, while others questioned the authenticity of his claims about mentoring Imisi. One user, @iamnikky5, commented, “2 people don dey claim Imisi Oga now. Who be the real Oga wey teach Imisi acting?” Another, @ade_jolami, wrote, “He has been supporting Imisi from day 1,” while @dma_kas added, “You’re now a proud father.”
Other celebrities also celebrated Imisi. Actress Ronke said she fell in love with Imisi halfway through the show, inspired by her personality and energy. Socialite and singer Yhemo Lee revealed plans to host Imisi at a club upon her return.
However, the win was not without controversy. Ossai Ovie Success, aide to the Delta State Governor, threatened to sue the BBNaija organisers, accusing them of rigging the votes in Imisi’s favor and arguing that Dede deserved the crown for making viewers proud.
Despite the debate, Imisi’s victory marks a significant milestone, with her talent and persona earning the hearts of fans and prominent figures alike.
