TMPL Motion Pictures, a subsidiary of The Temple Company, has unveiled a new television series titled Japada, dedicated to showcasing the remarkable stories of Nigerians who have returned home after living abroad.
The show aims to celebrate their successes while reigniting a sense of patriotism, especially at a time when the country faces challenges related to brain drain and economic migration.
Hosted by media personality, actor, and brand influencer Mimi Onalaja, Japada made its debut on Friday, October 3, 2025, airing on primetime television across multiple stations. The weekly broadcast schedule includes Fridays on NTA 2 Lagos from 7:30 pm to 8 pm, Sundays on TVC News from 12:30 pm to 1 pm, and Mondays on NTA Network from 5:30 pm to 6 pm.
Through insightful conversations, Mimi Onalaja delves into the guests’ journeys of reverse migration, exploring how their international experiences have contributed to personal growth and national development. The show also highlights their struggles, victories, and contributions across various sectors, offering viewers stories that reflect resilience and renewed commitment to Nigeria.
The guests featured on Japada come from diverse industries, including healthcare, entrepreneurship, technology, the arts, and social advocacy. Among them are Prof. Kofo Ogunyakin and Dr. Yemi Johnson, who both returned from the United Kingdom and the United States to establish First Cardiology Consultants, one of Nigeria’s leading heart care centers.
In other episodes, award-winning actresses Shaffy Bello and Osas Ighodaro share their experiences of leaving behind life abroad to pursue successful careers in Nollywood, as they discuss passion, purpose, and identity with the show’s charismatic host.
Speaking about the vision behind the program, Kolawole Fashola, Supervising Producer, described Japada as a necessary and timely project. He said, “Japada is an inspired idea. The production of the TV show was essential, and the story was eagerly awaiting its telling. We at The Temple Company and our subsidiary, TMPL Motion Pictures, took on this project as a national assignment to kick-start conversations about nation-building, especially among young people. We hope to spark optimism and encourage a collective effort toward building a better Nigeria.”
