Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has stepped forward to defend Big Brother Naija Level Up winner and rising singer Phyna, after a video of the duo hanging out went viral on social media.
The video, which has been widely shared across Instagram and Twitter, shows Phyna, still mourning the tragic loss of her sister, enjoying a lively moment with Regina Daniels and her friends while dancing to her latest single, “Bend Down.”
However, some social media users criticized Phyna for appearing carefree despite her loss. One Instagram user wrote:
“See person wey dey mourn her sister and asked @dangotegroup to pay $80m. On Friday, she was in club vibing.”
Reacting to the backlash, Regina Daniels defended Phyna, explaining that the reality star grieves in private but chooses to enjoy herself in the company of friends. She said:
“She definitely cries in her private moment. But with us, the tears dey mad?”
Fans and followers of the Nollywood actress praised her loyalty and support, with many describing her as a true girl’s girl.
The incident comes months after Phyna publicly addressed businessman Aliko Dangote and Dangote Group, following a tragic accident involving a truck owned by the conglomerate that led to her sister’s passing. In August, she claimed that the businessman and his company instructed Nigerian authorities to remove the truck’s plate number. She also expressed her frustration, noting:
“He only get money but he no be God.”
Following the tragic incident, Dangote Group released an official statement, emphasizing its commitment to the well-being of Phyna’s sister and promising comprehensive support, including medical care and proper compensation. Sadly, despite these interventions, Phyna’s sister passed away on Sunday, August 31st.
The support from Regina Daniels highlights the importance of empathy and understanding for public figures navigating grief in the public eye. Social media users have continued to rally behind both Phyna and Daniels, appreciating the actress’s bold stance in defending her friend.
