Osas Ighodaro, one of Nollywood’s most prominent actresses, has taken a defining step in her career, expanding her creative horizon beyond acting into film production.
The award-winning actress and media personality has announced herself as an executive producer on two major FilmOne projects, 3 Cold Dishes and Colours of Fire, under her own production company, Imuetiyan Productions.
Both films are set for release later this year, marking a new chapter not only in her personal career but also in the broader evolution of Nollywood.
In 3 Cold Dishes, directed by Asurf Oluseyi, Ighodaro stars alongside Wale Ojo, Ruby Akubueze, and Femi Jacobs in a story that tackles trauma, resilience, and retribution.
The plot follows three women from Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and Benin who reunite two decades after surviving human trafficking to exact revenge on the men who destroyed their lives.
The cross-border narrative delves into the emotional depth of survival, the cost of justice, and the unbreakable bonds between women who have endured unimaginable pain.
Her second project, Colours of Fire, takes a completely different direction, blending folklore, mythology, and love into an epic narrative. Directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, the film stars Uzor Arukwe, Mercy Aigbe, Gabriel Afolayan, and Femi Branch alongside Ighodaro.
The story centers on a warrior sent to hunt a mythical beast unleashed by rival clans, only to uncover a forbidden connection that could either bring unity or doom. It’s a production that showcases both Nollywood’s expanding creative ambition and Ighodaro’s willingness to explore layered, high-concept storytelling.
These two projects represent more than just new roles they signify a turning point for Ighodaro as she takes charge of her own narratives.
By stepping into the role of producer, she joins a growing list of Nigerian actors who are asserting creative control over the kinds of stories Nollywood tells and how they are told.
Through Imuetiyan Productions named after the Edo phrase meaning “patience is a virtue” Ighodaro signals her intent to build a legacy rooted in cultural authenticity, artistic integrity, and industry empowerment.
For Ighodaro, producing is not merely an extension of her acting career; it is a declaration of intent. After years of excelling on-screen, she’s now shaping the future of African storytelling from behind the camera.
Her involvement in two films of such contrasting tones one grounded in human pain, the other in mythic spectacledemonstrates her versatility and her commitment to pushing Nollywood’s creative boundaries.
As 3 Cold Dishes and Colours of Fire prepare for release, they not only showcase Ighodaro’s expanding range but also highlight her evolution into a full-fledged creative force.
This move could easily define the next decade of her career, marking her transition from celebrated actress to influential producer and industry trailblazer one shaping the next generation of Nollywood cinema.
