Jennifer Lopez, the US actress and singer, has opened up about the lessons she has learned from her past marriages, emphasizing the importance of self-worth and recognizing when a partner is not capable of giving the love you deserve.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, the 56-year-old star reflected candidly on her romantic history. “What I learned, it’s not that I’m not lovable. It’s that they’re not capable,” Lopez said.

“They don’t have it in them. They need to appreciate the little person inside of them. They need to love them.”

Lopez, who has been married four times, acknowledged that much of her life has unfolded under the public eye. She has often been transparent about her relationships, but she says the experience has taught her to be more private about her personal life.

“And I wanted to share my life with someone. I want someone to be there when I’m having my big important moments on the red carpet,” she explained.

“In the past few years I feel like I want to keep that part so much more quiet in my life. The truth is, when you’re in this type of career and you have the type of level of fame that we’re talking about, there is a compromise.”

Lopez admitted that dating in the modern celebrity world comes with unique challenges. When asked whether she would consider joining the celebrity dating app Raya, she replied, “No, I don’t want that.” She added with a smile, “I don’t know. I’m just old-fashioned, I guess.”

The Hollywood star’s most recent marriage, to actor Ben Affleck, ended earlier this year. The couple officially divorced after two years of marriage. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, listing April 26 as their date of separation and citing irreconcilable differences. Their high-profile relationship had been closely followed by fans and media alike, and their split marked another chapter in Lopez’s very public love life.

Lopez’s journey in love has spanned decades. Her first marriage was to Cuban-born waiter Ojani Noa, which lasted from 1997 to 1998. She then married her former backup dancer, Cris Judd, from 2001 to 2003. Her longest marriage was to singer Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins, lasting from 2004 to 2014. Each relationship, she says, has taught her valuable lessons about love, compatibility, and knowing one’s self-worth.

Despite her experiences, Lopez remains hopeful and intentional about her future. She emphasized the importance of being with someone who can truly appreciate and love the person she is, beyond her fame and public persona.

Lopez’s reflections serve as a reminder that even in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, personal growth, self-respect, and finding a partner capable of genuine love remain essential. Her candidness also highlights the balancing act faced by celebrities—navigating personal relationships while maintaining privacy in a career where nearly every detail is under scrutiny.

Through all the ups and downs, Lopez has learned to prioritize her happiness and maintain a sense of control over her personal life, showing that even stars can grow wiser and more self-aware with time and experience.
