Senator Ned Nwoko has defended polygamy, claiming it offers men greater stability and balance in life, while dismissing domestic violence allegations made by his actress wife, Regina Daniels. The Delta North lawmaker spoke on the topic during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, addressing questions about managing multiple wives, his marital choices, and recent public controversies.
When asked how he copes with having four wives, Nwoko compared the experience to balancing on multiple legs. “That is a different topic for discussion on another day. Yes, every man should do that. The example I give is this: just imagine telling you to stand on one foot or leg. You know how difficult it is. But to stand on two, three, four is much more balanced. That’s just the example I give. So I feel sorry for those who have one wife because it’s difficult to stand on one leg,” he explained.
Nwoko was also asked about the Bible’s position on polygamy, a question that has stirred debate in religious circles. He responded, “The Old Testament does. I am a man of faith. But that’s not what we are here for.” On whether he regretted any of his marital decisions, the senator was firm, saying, “No, I don’t have any regret. I will do the same thing again. Of course, that’s the way it should be. You should marry who you want to marry.”
Regarding the allegations of domestic violence, Nwoko outrightly denied any wrongdoing. “No, come on. You know I am not a violent person. I respect my wives. I love them and my kids,” he said. His comments come amid heightened public scrutiny following his estranged wife’s social media activity.
Just hours before Nwoko’s interview aired, Regina Daniels shared videos and photos of her newly acquired mansion on Instagram. In the post, she celebrated her independence, writing, “In my house, I am a Queen! I needed a roof over my head, so I got this for me and my family.” The post has since gone viral, drawing congratulatory messages from fans who praised her for taking control of her life and securing a safe, comfortable environment for herself and her family.
The timing of Daniels’ post follows a viral video from October 18 in which she appeared outside her Abuja residence in tears, speaking about alleged abuse. “In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a Queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much,” she said. The video reignited public debate over the state of their marriage and the challenges associated with high-profile relationships in Nigeria.
The couple’s six-year union has long been a topic of fascination due to the significant age gap between them, but it now appears to be on the verge of collapse. With divorce rumours swirling and social media users closely following every development, the situation has become a highly publicized saga, with both parties using their platforms to share their perspectives.
As the drama unfolds, the dialogue around polygamy, marital rights, and personal independence has intensified. While Nwoko maintains that his choices are deliberate and grounded in his beliefs, Daniels’ latest actions underscore her determination to assert autonomy and protect her family. The saga continues to spark national conversation, highlighting the intersection of celebrity, social media, and personal relationships in contemporary Nigerian society.
