Nigerian politician Prince Odi Okojie, husband of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson, is facing mixed reactions after unveiling the ongoing renovation project of the Our Lady of Lourdes Girls Grammar School in Uromi, Edo State. The project, which is being carried out under the supervision of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), is meant to uplift the infrastructure and facilities of the school.
Prince Okojie shared updates on Instagram, showing the progress of the renovation, which includes key upgrades like the construction of an Art Science Laboratory, the renovation and furnishing of classroom blocks, as well as the construction, furnishing, and equipping of the Art ICT building. The project also involves installing three 10KVA inverter systems, the provision of a borehole with an overhead tank, solar street lights, and other external works.
Okojie expressed his personal connection to the project, reflecting on how his own childhood experiences were shaped by the institution. “This project stems from my reflections on my childhood and the significant impact this institution has had on countless girls in the community,” he stated.
