Social media influencer, Gehgeh, has stirred widespread reactions online after urging men to embrace polygamy, using Nigerian billionaire and politician, Senator Ned Nwoko, as a shining example.
In a viral video shared on Monday, October 20, 2025, Gehgeh argued that polygamy is not only natural but also emotionally beneficial for men. According to him, having multiple wives provides men with “options” and helps protect their hearts from heartbreak.
He said, “Nobody can hurt you if you have options. When you have more than one wife, you can never be emotionally damaged because your attention is divided.”
Using Ned Nwoko and his actress wife, Regina Daniels, as a reference, Gehgeh claimed that men like Nwoko are emotionally stable because they don’t depend on just one woman for affection.
He added that in polygamous marriages, a man is unlikely to suffer heartbreak since he always has another partner to lean on.
Gehgeh went further to say, “Regina dey one place now dey cry, but Ned is fine. Polygamy protects a man’s heart.” He insisted that monogamy puts too much emotional pressure on both men and women, making relationships unstable.
According to him, “If you have plenty things and one no dey work, you discard am. That’s how life should be. You move on quickly.”
His comments, however, have sparked outrage on social media, with many users accusing him of being insensitive and promoting a patriarchal mindset. Critics slammed him for disrespecting women and using polygamy as an excuse for lack of emotional accountability.
One user commented, “Gehgeh always talks nonsense just to chase engagement. This isn’t wisdom; it’s noise.” Another wrote, “He’s trivialising marriage. Polygamy is not a healing strategy, it’s a lifestyle choice.”
Despite the backlash, some supporters backed Gehgeh’s stance, saying polygamy aligns with African culture and traditions. A supporter commented, “He’s right. Ned Nwoko embraces our forefathers’ ways and stands strong as a polygamist. It’s part of our heritage.”
This is not the first time the influencer has made controversial remarks on relationships. Gehgeh, known for his blunt takes on love, dating, and gender dynamics, has previously urged women to stop expecting loyalty from men, claiming that “men are natural providers, not prisoners of love.”
Meanwhile, Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels have remained silent amid renewed discussions about their marriage following Gehgeh’s viral comments. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, have often been at the centre of online debates about age, love, and polygamy.
As reactions continue to pour in, Gehgeh’s statement has reignited old conversations about polygamy, modern relationships, and the evolving definitions of commitment in today’s society.
While many Nigerians view his words as mere clout-chasing, others believe he is simply echoing a cultural practice that has existed for generations.
The viral clip has since gathered thousands of views, sparking heated discussions across X Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram proving once again that Gehgeh knows how to keep the internet talking.
