The Nigerian film industry continues to prove its strength and global appeal as Gingerrr, the star-studded comedy featuring Kiekie, Bisola Aiyeola, Wunmi Toriola, and Bolaji Ogunmola, achieves a major box office milestone. The film has officially grossed an impressive ₦378,600,067, and the numbers are still climbing.
Since its release on September 26, Gingerrr has dominated the Nigerian box office, holding the number one spot every week since debuting in cinemas. This consistent performance not only cements its place among Nollywood’s top-grossing films but also highlights the power of strong female-led productions in the industry.
Standing Tall Among Nollywood Greats
With its current earnings, Gingerrr now sits comfortably beside some of Nollywood’s biggest box office hits, joining the ranks of Everybody Loves Jenifa, The Wedding Party, Chief Daddy, and other all-time blockbusters.
The film’s massive success also has a ripple effect on the rankings of other top films. Wunmi Toriola’s Queen Lateefah has now moved to the 11th position with a total gross of ₦365 million, while AY Makun’s The Waiter occupies 12th place, and Timini Egbuson’s Reel Love trails closely at 13th.
Interestingly, Gingerrr is now less than ₦10 million shy of surpassing Chief Daddy, which means it could soon claim an even higher position in the all-time chart.
A Win for Women-Led Nollywood Productions
What makes Gingerrr’s success especially remarkable is that it is a women-led film both in front of and behind the camera. Starring some of Nollywood’s most dynamic female talents—Kiekie, Bisola Aiyeola, Wunmi Toriola, and Bolaji Ogunmola—the movie celebrates female creativity, humor, and resilience in storytelling.
Its achievement also signals a positive shift in the Nigerian entertainment landscape, where women-driven projects are increasingly earning both critical acclaim and commercial success. The film’s ability to connect with audiences through its relatable storyline, vibrant energy, and standout performances has clearly paid off at the box office.
Expanding Beyond Nigeria: The UK Cinema Run
As if dominating the Nigerian box office wasn’t enough, Gingerrr is now making its way to UK cinemas, marking another significant chapter in its successful run. The UK release offers an opportunity for the Nigerian diaspora and international film lovers to experience one of Nollywood’s most talked-about comedies of 2025.
Industry analysts predict that the film’s international screenings will further boost its earnings and potentially push it past the ₦400 million mark—a figure that would make it one of the top 10 highest-grossing Nigerian films ever.
A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Gingerrr’s box office feat is more than just a number—it’s a statement. It represents the continued growth of Nollywood and reaffirms that audiences are eager to support homegrown stories that blend humor, culture, and authenticity.
With its strong performances, lively storytelling, and undeniable cultural flavor, Gingerrr has proven to be more than just another comedy—it’s a cinematic celebration of Nigerian creativity and collaboration.
And with the film’s UK release just beginning, one thing is certain: this milestone is only the beginning of an even greater success story.
