A man who bears a striking resemblance to Nigerian music star Flavour has spoken out after being accused of using the artiste’s identity to scam unsuspecting fans.
The individual, who identifies himself as Flavour N’ututua, addressed the allegations in a video shared on his TikTok page, where he clarified that his actions are not driven by deceit but by admiration for the award-winning musician.
According to him, he has recently received several messages accusing him of impersonating Flavour to defraud people online. However, he firmly denied the claims, insisting that his resemblance and performance style are simply expressions of his admiration and not an attempt to exploit others.
In his words: “My name is Flavour N’ututua, please there a few things I want to address online because I have been getting some messages saying I’m using Flavour’s name to scam people. Ladies and gentlemen, I am not using Flavour’s name to scam anyone.”
He continued by explaining that his choice to perform as a Flavour lookalike comes from a place of love and respect. “It is just that I love him so much, I love the man. I enjoy acting like him, I am lookalike, I am not the real Flavor. Because as I am now, I go to shows for N700k, N800k but Flavour cannot attend shows for such amounts.”
Flavour N’ututua also urged anyone who believes they were scammed in his name to come forward publicly with proof, emphasizing that he has never been involved in fraudulent acts.
“So I never scammed anyone with Flavour’s name and if you feel like I have, please come online to talk about it,” he said.
He added that deceiving fans under the singer’s name would be a betrayal of someone he deeply admires. “In my life, I can never do it because I know me scamming someone with Flavour’s name is damaging his image and I cannot do that for a man I love, a man I look up to.”
Flavour N’ututua’s statement has sparked varied reactions online, with some social media users commending him for clarifying his stance, while others urged him to differentiate himself more clearly to avoid future confusion with the real Flavour.
The real Flavour, whose real name is Chinedu Okoli, is yet to respond to the ongoing discussion surrounding his doppelgänger.
