Reality TV star Phyna has publicly criticized Dangote Group, claiming that the conglomerate offered her family only N20 million as compensation following the death of her sister, Ruth, while making serious and alarming allegations against the company.

The tragic incident occurred in August when Phyna’s sister was crushed by a truck allegedly belonging to Dangote Group in Edo State. Ruth did not die immediately but suffered severe injuries, losing her limbs and remaining in a coma for weeks. Despite medical intervention, she eventually succumbed to her injuries on August 31. Her passing stirred widespread emotional reactions across Nigeria, with many expressing sympathy and outrage over the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Following the accident, Phyna insisted that Dangote Group should pay a substantial compensation for her sister’s ordeal. She demanded N1 billion, arguing that the company bore responsibility for the accident. Many netizens, however, described her demand as unrealistic, considering the typical compensation standards in similar cases. Nonetheless, Phyna remained firm, maintaining that her sister’s life and suffering warranted a significant settlement.

In a recent statement, the BBNaija star revealed that her family had allegedly received only N20 million from Dangote Group, a sum she considers insufficient when measured against the lifelong expenses and educational investments her sister had incurred. Phyna also made serious allegations, claiming that the company had allegedly instructed the hospital where her sister was receiving treatment to inject her with something that would hasten her death. According to her, the company was concerned about the rising costs of her medical care.

Speaking further, Phyna wrote, “My mind is telling me Dangote group and company told Lagoon hospital to inject my sister so she will die. If I calculate wetin my sister don chop from when she dey baby class to this Auchi Poly wey she just finished, wetin be 20 million Naira?”

She continued to express her anger at the negotiation process, stating, “I don’t know who made that negotiation since na then open their mouth ask. When I found out about the 20 million I was so pissed. Removing my sister from the mortuary I paid hundreds of thousands. Dangote I don’t do online ranting. I go say what I want to say, Una go arrest me tire. Before them burn like 15 of your trailer, you go carry me. Until my sister died before FRSC posted something, those clout chasers…”

Phyna’s post highlights her dissatisfaction not only with the compensation amount but also with how the situation was allegedly handled by Dangote Group, particularly regarding her sister’s medical care and treatment.

The reality star’s public statements have reignited debates about corporate responsibility, adequate compensation for victims of accidents involving major companies, and the ethical obligations of corporations toward affected families. Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express solidarity with Phyna while calling for a thorough investigation into the accident and the claims she has raised.

Phyna’s allegations and the limited compensation reportedly offered by Dangote Group underscore the complex issues surrounding corporate accountability and the protection of citizens in the aftermath of accidents. The story continues to attract national attention as Nigerians await further clarification from the company regarding both the accident and the claims made by the BBNaija star.
