Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has sparked controversy after sharing photos of herself allegedly speaking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). According to Kemi Filani, the actress took to her Instagram page to express gratitude for the opportunity to speak at the event.

In her post, Badmus wrote:

"Grateful to speak at #UNGA on innovation, gender inclusion & partnerships for a sustainable energy future. I’m also grateful to have attended the Future Africa Forum 2025 at The Africa Centre, powered by Afreximbank’s Global Africa Gateway.

It was an incredible opportunity to connect, share, and learn alongside brilliant young leaders who are shaping the future of our continent. The conversations, collaborations, and networks built here are priceless, and I look forward to seeing how these connections spark new possibilities for Africa’s growth and transformation.

However, many Instagram users quickly questioned the authenticity of the photos, pointing out that the images were taken at the Nigerian Embassy in New York, not the UN building.

One user, aderonke_0, commented: “This is the Nigerian Embassy in New York (Nigerian House), not the UN building.”
arthurice10 added: “APC no go kill us I swear.”

Despite the backlash, reports from Nollywoodtimes revealed that Badmus was indeed invited as a special guest to the UNGABO Side Event Series in New York. She described the invitation as a milestone, noting that it was shaping her career, expanding her network, and unlocking global opportunities.

Badmus’ political involvement has also been notable. Following her support for President Tinubu during the elections last year in May, she was appointed Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Social Events and Public Hearing. Upon confirming her appointment, Eniola expressed her gratitude, saying she was honored to serve under the Speaker’s leadership.

In July, she officially assumed her role, sharing photos of herself with the Senator during a meeting with Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) in Abuja.

Earlier this year, in May, Eniola shared photos from her office, urging Nigerians to embrace unity, pride, and purpose, emphasizing that the power to shape their future rests in their hands.
