Nigerian chef Rita Nnagbogu Ifeyinwa is set to make history with an ambitious attempt to set a Guinness World Record for cooking the largest pot of Ukodo commonly known as yam pepper soup combined with beans.
The culinary venture comes shortly after Hilda Baci made headlines for breaking the record for the largest pot of jollof rice on September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites, an event that drew the attention of Nigeria’s entertainment elite.
Rita’s world record attempt is scheduled to take place on September 17, 2025, in Asaba, Delta State. According to a social media announcement by Ossai Ovie Success, the initiative has already received significant backing, with ₦20 million pledged to support the preparation. Ossai wrote:
“I reached out to the CEO of Korrect Logistics, Amb Abolo Henshell, and the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, High Chief Ibori Ubulu. They will be giving her N20M to begin preparations. I will continue to mobilize additional support ahead of the event.”
The announcement has sparked excitement across social media, with Nigerians praising Rita’s bold step to showcase the country’s rich culinary culture. Commenters have expressed both support and admiration for her initiative. Sasu Neorse wrote, “Jealousy, leave my girl to enjoy her achievement. God abeg! On the day of the attempt, let everything go smoothly.”
Eunice added, “Why must people always find reasons to criticize? Let Nigerians celebrate their accomplishments. Cooking records are just one way to shine.
” Temisan also shared enthusiasm, saying, “I need to know the location so I can be there. Congratulations to her in advance! We will cheer her on.” Joy noted the significance of the event, stating, “Guinness World Records are truly becoming a Nigerian affair. So proud!”
This upcoming attempt not only promises to break a culinary record but also highlights the creativity and resourcefulness of Nigerian chefs on the global stage. It is an opportunity to celebrate Nigerian food culture, encourage community participation, and inspire young chefs across the country.
With financial backing, community support, and inspiration drawn from Hilda Baci’s recent achievement, Rita Nnagbogu Ifeyinwa is poised to make history. Nigerians both at home and abroad are eagerly anticipating the event, which is expected to be a landmark moment in the country’s culinary history.
The Guinness World Record attempt for the largest pot of Ukodo and beans demonstrates how Nigerian cuisine continues to gain recognition worldwide, reflecting a growing trend of celebrating local flavors through innovative and record-setting feats.
