The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has lauded the remarkable feat of Assistant Comptroller of Customs, Akpevwe Ogboru, popularly known as Tracta 2, who successfully undertook a solo 35-day motorcycle journey from Nigeria to Belgium.
Ogboru began her ambitious ride on August 1, 2025, traversing ten countries across two continents and covering an estimated distance of 10,265 kilometres. She arrived at the Nigerian Embassy in Brussels on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 12:47 p.m., completing the arduous expedition.
In a statement, NCS National Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Maiwada explained that the journey, titled “Ride for Women Inclusivity and Cross-Border Research,” was aimed at promoting gender equality, empowering the girl child, and fostering cultural exchange.
“Her extraordinary journey marks a bold demonstration of courage, resilience, and purposeful advocacy,” the statement said.
The Customs Service described Ogboru’s accomplishment as a testament to perseverance and a significant milestone for Nigerian women breaking barriers in various fields. Her arrival in Brussels was celebrated with enthusiasm, highlighting the importance of her advocacy work.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, also commended her achievement, stating, “Assistant Comptroller Ogboru’s accomplishment stands as a beacon of inspiration to Customs officers, Nigerians, and the global community. With determination and vision, boundaries can indeed be transcended.”
Aside from its symbolic significance, Ogboru’s ride contributed to research, enhanced international relations, and projected a positive image of Nigeria globally.
As she returns home, the NCS reaffirmed its support for initiatives that “promote resilience, innovation, and inclusivity,” while encouraging more Nigerians to pursue bold ventures that uplift the nation.
