A Star-Studded Cast Shines On Netflix And Circuits TV
Featuring Ayo AY Makun, Bucci Franklin, Shaffy Bello, Deyemi Okanlawon, Regina Daniels, Williams Uchemba, Sunshine Rosman, Uzee Usman, and more, The Waiter brings together some of Nollywood’s brightest names in a gripping cinematic experience.
Cinematography, Locations, And Performances Impress
From the carefully selected locations to the sharp cinematography and strong cast performances, the production exceeds expectations. AY deserves credit for presenting a visually compelling and thought-provoking film.
A Fearless Take On Politics And Corruption
One reason the movie may not be widely discussed is its bold focus on political issues. It fearlessly tackles corruption, embezzlement, and staged poverty alleviation schemes where ordinary citizens are paraded for show while funds are funneled into private pockets.
Minor Flaws In An Otherwise Solid Story
Around the 1 hour 26-minute mark, Akpos is tasked with locking the security access door to stop the police from clashing with the revolution group. While logical, his later swift arrival to rescue Idara felt less convincing since her exact location wasn’t clear. In addition, although Akpos’s humor is his trademark, some of the jokes felt excessive and disrupted the film’s tone.
A Film That Sparks Conversation
Despite these minor shortcomings, The Waiter is bold, engaging, and impactful. It’s the kind of story that lingers long after the credits roll, igniting conversations about both politics and storytelling in Nollywood.
Final Verdict: A courageous and visually captivating film. Highly recommended.
