The Lagos State Police Command has cleared Pastor Paul Adefarasin, Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, after a viral video showed him appearing to hold a firearm.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, Adefarasin voluntarily visited the Ikeja police headquarters to provide clarification on the matter.
The police confirmed that the item seen in the video was a stun gun, not a lethal weapon.
“After a thorough investigation, including interrogation and a cautionary statement from Pastor Adefarasin, it was established that the object in question was a stun gun and not a lethal weapon or firearm,” the statement explained.
The command added, “Consequent to our findings, the Lagos State Police Command has determined that there are no sufficient grounds to proceed with the matter. The case is hereby discontinued.”
The spokesperson emphasized the police’s dedication to transparency, adherence to the rule of law, and the protection of public safety.
