Popular Nollywood actress, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, is speaking candidly about her love life and failed relationships. The outspoken movie star, who recently ended her relationship with Delta-born entertainer Xxssive (Eseoghene Obire), revealed during a new episode of her podcast that she has never dated anyone more financially stable than herself.
According to the actress, fondly called NBS, she has always been the one taking care of herself even while in relationships. Nkechi stressed that she is not a materialistic woman, but admitted that her past relationships involved her dating men who were not as financially buoyant as she is.
In her words: “I’ve never dated someone who has more money than I do. I’ve dated down three times, and I’m not doing that anymore.”
This revelation comes months after the actress confirmed that her relationship with Xxssive ended in 2024. In March, Nkechi Blessing took to Instagram stories to disclose the breakup, making it clear that there was no bad blood between her and the entertainer. The single mother of one also shared that being single again gives her a sense of freedom, adding that she happily joins other single ladies in the popular chant, “God when.”
Nkechi Blessing and Xxssive began dating in 2021 following her public breakup with Ekiti-born politician Opeyemi Falegan. Their romance was once the subject of social media buzz, with both partners openly displaying affection online. However, the union quietly came to an end, and now Nkechi is resolute about her next steps in love.
The actress, who continues to shine in Nollywood films, emphasized that moving forward, she will no longer “date down,” hinting at a new phase where she seeks stability, emotional balance, and perhaps a partner who matches her drive and financial strength.
