Enioluwa Adeoluwa, a prominent Nigerian influencer and actor, has expressed his frustration over the recurrent flooding in Lekki, Lagos. Despite residing in what is considered a prime location, he finds himself trapped indoors during heavy rains, highlighting the disconnect between wealth and comfort in the area.
“In this part of the world, money doesn’t guarantee comfort,” Enioluwa remarked. “You hustle hard, buy a house in what’s called a ‘prime location,’ yet the moment it rains, you’re trapped indoors because everywhere outside is flooded.” His statement resonates with many residents who have experienced similar challenges in the face of inadequate infrastructure.
The flooding issue in Lekki is not new. In July 2024, a 10-hour rainfall led to severe flooding, damaging homes, businesses, and infrastructure. The Lagos State Government attributed the recurring floods to residents blocking drainage systems, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility in maintaining public infrastructure .
Enioluwa, known for his advocacy in fashion, lifestyle, and social media, has used his platform to raise awareness about the flooding crisis. With over 3.4 million followers on Instagram, he continues to spotlight issues affecting Lagosians, urging both the government and citizens to take proactive measures.
The recurring floods in Lekki serve as a stark reminder that economic status does not shield residents from environmental challenges. As Enioluwa aptly puts it, “Money doesn’t guarantee comfort.”
