Former Big Brother Naija housemate, actor, and media personality Seyi Awolowo has stated firmly that he will never return to the reality TV show that first brought him into the spotlight.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Seyi revealed that his BBNaija journey is permanently behind him, stressing that he has learned valuable lessons and has since moved on with his life.
Seyi, who first appeared in the 2019 Big Brother Naija: Pepper Dem season, quickly became one of the standout housemates. Known for his wit, eloquence, and sometimes controversial takes, he finished among the top finalists that year. His charisma and outspoken nature made him a fan favorite, though he also attracted criticism for some of his heated clashes with fellow housemates.
He later made a return to the franchise in 2023 during Big Brother Naija All Stars, where he once again became a trending figure—this time for more polarizing reasons. While some viewers applauded his maturity and strategy, others heavily criticized his comments and behavior, sparking widespread online debates.
Reflecting on those moments, Seyi admitted that he allowed himself to be emotionally affected by the harsh criticisms and online backlash that followed his time in the house.
“I allowed myself to be bullied online by both insignificant people and educated critics who ignored the truth,” he confessed, adding that while the experience was tough, it ultimately taught him resilience.
Despite the backlash, Seyi insisted that he would not change anything about his reality TV journey:
“I wouldn’t change anything about my past game. It’s all part of my story,” he said confidently.
The grandson of the late Nigerian nationalist and statesman Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Seyi has since carved a career in entertainment, appearing in Nollywood productions, commercials, and becoming a recognizable face on Nigerian television. He noted that his time in the BBNaija house gave him exposure, discipline, and the courage to embrace the challenges of public life.
Interestingly, he revealed that the only scenario in which he would consider a return to Big Brother Naija is if producers wanted him to replace longtime host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
“The only call I’d answer is if Big Brother wants me to replace Ebuka,” Seyi quipped, laughing.
For Seyi, the BBNaija chapter is permanently closed, but he acknowledges that the journey remains an unforgettable part of his growth story—one that came with both applause and backlash, but ultimately shaped him into the person he is today.
