Viral ex-security guards, Happie Boys, have publicly apologized to Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere during a church service at the Omega Power Ministries (OPM), two years after they were deported from Cyprus.

The incident, which has generated significant attention on social media, marks the latest chapter in the controversial saga of the young men who rose to fame under unusual circumstances.

The Happie Boys were initially sent on a scholarship to study in Cyprus following their dismissal from the eatery where they worked as security guards.

Their scholarship was funded by Apostle Chibuzor, who sought to provide them with an opportunity to improve their lives. However, the young men soon gained notoriety after a video went viral showing them dancing while on duty, sparking debates about their professionalism and discipline.

In 2022, upon arrival in Cyprus, the Happie Boys reportedly lived a lavish lifestyle, spending the scholarship funds on various personal indulgences.

Their behavior eventually led to the cessation of financial support from Apostle Chibuzor, at which point they began publicly criticizing the pastor. This criticism prompted the pastor to reportedly curse them, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The situation reached a turning point in September 2023 when the young men were deported to Nigeria. During that period, they issued an initial apology to Apostle Chibuzor.

Their recent visit to OPM Church appears to be a more public act of remorse, aimed at demonstrating their regret and seeking forgiveness.

A video circulating online shows the Happie Boys acknowledging that a man had misled them into criticizing Apostle Chibuzor, promising them a future opportunity in the United States if they continued their attacks.

The revelation has sparked reactions across social media. One Twitter user, @askiaz__, expressed incredulity at the Happie Boys’ actions, stating:

“So they’re saying someone convinced them to talk bad things about their helper and they did? Like your helper! And two of them none could say NO? Please, they need to go their separate ways.” Another user, @Ruch_Trc20, highlighted the cultural context of Cyprus, writing, “If you know how Cyprus be, you no go say these boys blow money.”

@TruthBeToldOO1 offered a more reflective perspective, noting: “This Happie Boys situation is a clear case of social media fame gone wrong.

They misused their opportunity, and now they’re back begging for forgiveness. While the pastor’s forgiveness might seem noble, it also questions enabling such behavior. People should learn from this, not just pity them. Truth be told, it’s a warning about biting the hand that feeds you.”

The Happie Boys’ apology underscores the challenges of sudden fame and the responsibility that comes with financial support and mentorship.

Their story serves as a cautionary tale for young Nigerians who may find themselves in similar positions, highlighting the importance of discipline, gratitude, and making wise decisions when opportunities arise.

As of September 14, 2025, the story continues to trend online, with many calling for lessons to be learned from the saga rather than mere sympathy for the young men.

The Happie Boys’ visit to OPM Church represents a step toward accountability and reconciliation with Apostle Chibuzor, a figure whose support once opened doors for them abroad.
