Nollywood veteran Richard Mofe Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has penned a heartwarming tribute to legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Ujah Idibia, better known as 2Baba or Tuface, as the music icon clocks 50.
Taking to his official Instagram page, the actor, who is regarded as one of the biggest faces of Nollywood, celebrated 2Baba with powerful words that reflected their long-standing brotherhood. Sharing iconic photos of the “African Queen” crooner, RMD called him his “star boy,” noting that no matter the season, 2Baba remains an inspiration.
He revealed that he has been a fan since their first meeting when he had the privilege of inviting the singer on stage, a moment that sealed his admiration.
“Thank you for the music. Thank you for the memories and the journeys we’ve shared. I love you bro,” RMD wrote.
For many Nigerians, 2Baba’s journey is nothing short of legendary. From his humble beginnings with the Plantashun Boiz to becoming one of Africa’s most decorated musicians, his voice and style have defined multiple generations. His classics like African Queen, For Instance, If Love Is a Crime, and True Love remain timeless.
To mark his golden jubilee, 2Baba released a personal statement where he appreciated his mother, children, wife, siblings, and the mothers of his children for standing by him through thick and thin. He described his life journey as “amazing” and emphasized that he does not take his blessings for granted.
