Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, has celebrated his beloved mother, Mrs. Rose Idibia, as she marked her 70th birthday in grand style.
According to NOLLYWOODTIMES report on Friday, the singer’s mother clocked 70, and his younger brother, Charles Idibia, took to social media to share heart-warming throwback photos of their mum. The photos, which quickly went viral, sparked conversations online as fans noted the striking resemblance between Rose Idibia and her grandchildren.
Joining in the heartfelt tributes, 2Baba shared an adorable video clip of himself and his mother, writing that “words can’t capture what I feel and wish for you.” The Afrobeats icon expressed deep gratitude for the blessing of having her in his life, describing her as “simply amazing.”
To mark the milestone, the “African Queen” hitmaker hosted a lavish birthday party in Abuja. The intimate celebration was graced by his new wife, Natasha, his sons from his previous marriage to Sunmbo Adeoye, his brother Charles Idibia, and close family friends.
However, fans were quick to notice the absence of 2Baba’s daughters with ex-wife Annie Idibia — Isabel and Olivia.
While Isabel was reportedly away schooling abroad, many wondered why Olivia wasn’t present at the family celebration.
The milestone celebration came months after a much-publicized family drama. When news of 2Baba’s engagement to Natasha went viral, his mother, Rose Idibia, made a passionate appeal to Natasha, urging her to “remove the beads she placed on my son’s hands and neck and free him.” At the time, Rose explained that her son was undergoing a divorce process with Annie and was “not in his right senses.”
In the heat of the controversy, 2Baba’s family allegedly filed a petition to the DSS, seeking intervention and claiming the legendary singer had been “missing” and was last seen “in his loungewear.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Charles Idibia accused Natasha of manipulating his brother, saying:
“My brother has been captured from inside the frying pan and thrown into an industrial furnace. He needs to wake up for the sake of his kids.”
Thankfully, the storm subsided as 2Baba eventually introduced Natasha to his mother and other family members. Their reconciliation was evident as Natasha attended both his wedding ceremony and his 50th birthday celebration.
The 70th birthday party not only highlighted the enduring bond between 2Baba and his mother but also symbolized a moment of unity for the Idibia family.
