Where is Olumide Oworu? That’s the question on the minds of many Nollywood fans who have noticed the actor’s unusually quiet presence in 2025. Once a consistent face on screen and social media, Olumide seems to have taken a step back from the public eye.

His last known film appearance was in the 2024 historical drama Lisabi: A Legend Is Born, where he played a supporting role alongside Lateef Adedimeji and Bimbo Ademoye.

The film, based on the legendary Yoruba warrior, was a Netflix success and praised for its storytelling. Before Lisabi, Olumide featured in hit titles such as A Tribe Called Judah  Nigeria’s first ₦1 billion box office hit and the crime thriller The Black Book, where he portrayed Damilola Edima. He also earned acclaim for his performance in Voltage, released in mid-2024.

Despite this impressive run, Olumide has been notably absent from major productions in 2025. Observers believe this retreat is intentional and tied to his growing interest in politics. In 2023, he ran for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat representing Surulere Constituency 1 under the Labour Party.

Though he lost to actor-turned-lawmaker Desmond Elliot of the APC, his bold move into politics turned heads. His campaign was youthful, issue-based, and resonated with Nigerians who felt underrepresented in the political process.

“We need to be a part of building the Nigeria we want to live in,” he said during a town hall. “I want to live here, build here, raise a family here  but things need to change.”

Although his name was omitted from the INEC ballot due to internal party issues, Olumide’s message made an impact and inspired a wave of political consciousness among his peers.

Since then, he has quietly continued to work behind the scenes. Sources say he’s been involved in civic education projects and community initiatives in Lagos.

While he hasn’t outright declared a break from acting, he has alluded to a shift in priorities. In a March 2025 interview, he stated, “I love acting, and I’ll always come back to it, but right now, I’m interested in stories that create real change  whether that’s through politics, music, or something new.”

He also mentioned a possible music collaboration with rapper Odumodu Blvck and hinted at launching a creative platform focused on youth development and advocacy.

His reduced presence on social media and absence from recent red carpet events has fueled speculation, but close followers believe the actor is simply working on the next chapter of his life.

While there’s no word yet on a new film or political campaign, many believe he is recalibrating for a bigger return, whether in politics, entertainment, or public service.

What is clear is that Olumide Oworu is not done. His voice, whether on screen or in the political arena, remains influential. For now, fans wait  not with disappointment, but with curiosity about what this multitalented star will do next.
