Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma has shared a deeply reflective message with his fans, opening up about his struggles with self-control, temptation, and the dualities of life.
Taking to his Instagram page, the entertainer revealed that despite efforts to stay calm, he still found himself losing his temper. According to him, resisting temptation has proven to be a battle he often fails to win.
“I counted one to ten and took deep breaths. But I still lost my temper!
I resisted temptation. But temptation refused to resist me.
I try to practice what I preach, but what I preach is an acquired taste.”
Bovi went on to describe how society has influenced him more than his innate nature, admitting that this has left him feeling conflicted.
“Society shaped me versus innate born me. The winner is scrambled me. One moment, silk. Next moment rough.
Who am I? What was I made for? Half body, half spirit. Hybrid of good and evil, a blend of pain and pleasure?”
Reflecting on his identity, he noted the constant presence of opposites in life — blessings and curses, good and bad, joy and pain — suggesting that one cannot exist without the other.
“In my religion, I pray. In my culture, I gyrate. What’s the odour of the blessings? And why do the curses scent?
Maybe I compare too much. Maybe all I’ve been searching for is within; good, bad, black, white, rivers, oceans, and deserts; can each exist without the other?
Now you see? There’s two or three of everything posing as opposites. But one of only me posing as many.
Ah, I see. We are spirits. Our bodies are Uber rides. Oh no! Our bodies are Airbnbs!!!
Lov, Bov.”
The comic’s note has sparked conversations online, with many fans interpreting it as a blend of humor, philosophy, and raw honesty.
