Nigerian singer Lekan Osifeso Jr., popularly known as Lojay, has spoken candidly about his much-speculated relationship with Folashade Adeleke, daughter of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and cousin to Afrobeats superstar Davido.

For months, whispers have trailed the pair, with many fans and blogs suggesting a romance was brewing between the rising Afrobeats talent and Folashade, who is also one of the familiar faces around Davido’s 30BG crew.

However, in a recent chat, Lojay set the record straight, making it clear that the bond he shares with her is not romantic.

According to the Monalisa crooner, Folashade is someone he considers more like family than a love interest. He described her as a strong and supportive figure who naturally earned his respect from the very first day they met. Lojay revealed that she is “literally my best friend” and emphasized that their connection has remained platonic since day one.

“She’s different,” he said while reflecting on how they met. “From the first day we crossed paths, I knew there was something unique about her energy. She’s the only woman in the 30BG crew and she holds it down for everybody. That says a lot about the kind of person she is. From that moment, we just clicked.”

The singer also used the opportunity to address his personal stance on relationships. He admitted that while some fans might expect him to be dating, the truth is that he is not in that space emotionally.

Lojay explained that he is currently focused on self-healing and personal growth after past experiences, and rushing into a relationship would not be fair to himself or to anyone else.

“Unfortunately, I’m not ready for a relationship yet,” he admitted. “Some people think that when you say this, it means you’re playing around, but that’s not the case with me. I genuinely believe that sometimes people need to heal and take a step back to work on themselves, and that’s the stage I’m in right now.”

By making this clarification, the singer hopes to silence the speculation and redirect attention back to his artistry. Lojay, who has steadily built a name for himself in the Afrobeats space with hits like Tonongo and Monalisa, has often stressed the importance of letting his music define him rather than gossip or public misconceptions.

His comments also highlight the difficulty many artists face when navigating friendships with women in the spotlight, as society often rushes to interpret every close bond as romantic. For Lojay, however, Folashade remains nothing more than a cherished friend and trusted confidant who has supported him on his journey.

While the singer continues to grow his music career both locally and internationally, fans may now have a clearer picture of where his personal life stands. For him, friendship and healing come first, while love can wait for the right time.
