Nigerian rapper and music executive Olamide Adedeji recently reflected on his late father’s incredible dedication and resilience in a heartfelt interview shared on X.

The YBNL Nation leader expressed how much he misses hearing his parents’ voices every day. He recalled how his father maintained a rigorous routine, waking up at 5 a.m. daily to travel from their mainland home to his job on the island — a demanding schedule he upheld faithfully for years without complaint.

“To me, that’s gangster,” Olamide remarked, using the street slang to highlight his father’s quiet discipline and steadfast commitment to family.

Beyond honoring his father’s work ethic, Olamide also spoke about the importance of loyalty and gratitude. He acknowledged the rare support of loyal people who stand by you, sometimes more than family members do.

“Even some of your family members won’t support you the way some loyal people do. If you see anyone loyal to you, you have to be grateful to God for that,” he said.

He further pointed out that loyalty and passion don’t always coincide.

“Some people are passionate about their work but not loyal to you, while some are loyal but not passionate,” Olamide explained.
