Reality TV star Phyna has publicly called out the Dangote Group, alleging that the company has failed to honour its commitment to send her younger sister, Ruth Otabor, overseas for urgent medical care after a severe accident involving one of its trucks.
Phyna had earlier revealed that Ruth was critically injured and left unconscious when a Dangote truck ran over her. Giving an update during an Instagram live session on Wednesday, she disclosed that her sister “has yet to regain consciousness.”
The Big Brother Naija winner explained that she had been in constant communication with the Dangote Group about her sister’s health status. However, she claimed that when she pressed for Ruth to be flown abroad as agreed, the company asked for “a new medical report” from her current hospital, saying they could not handle her case within their facility.
Expressing her frustration, Phyna stressed that the initial arrangement was only to stabilize Ruth in Lagos before moving her abroad for better treatment.
She explained: “Medical reports he said to me received and I said these are all the medical reports and if you give it to your doctors too you realize she doesn’t have much time and we need to act fast what’s the next move right now…”
The reality star said she was shocked by the delay, pointing out that her sister’s condition demanded urgent intervention.
“Now, this one vex me. Do you know why this vexed me? Because, hello, we had an agreement that we are only bringing my sister to Lagos. So they will be stabilizing her while we prepare to travel. That was our agreement. I already asked the hospital’s MD if my sister can be moved. He said yes. That should be what you should be asking. Like I said, she cannot be treated in Nigeria.”
Phyna went on to describe the extent of Ruth’s injuries, revealing that her “lungs contain fluid, her reproductive organ is crushed, and her bladder is busted.” She insisted that additional paperwork should not stand in the way of life-saving treatment.
“Please, can we have the medical report from Lagoon that says they cannot handle Ruth in their facility?… If Dangote’s child is sick, do they wait for medical reports to tell them to treat the girl in Nigeria? My sister’s lungs, there is fluid. Her reproductive organ is crushed. Her bladder is busted. We are praying every day for her to get to the next day.”
She concluded by reaffirming her stance that Ruth’s survival must remain the ultimate priority: “I cannot use my sister’s life to gamble. Now, I think I will share my demands with you…”
