The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has officially debunked circulating reports claiming that its Managing Director, Ali Nuhu, has passed away. The misinformation, which spread widely on social media, included videos and posts suggesting that the veteran actor had died, including one alleging a car accident.
In response, Brian Etuk, Director of Public Affairs at NFC, issued a statement on Monday evening, describing the rumours as “entirely false, malicious, and injurious.” He confirmed that Ali Nuhu is alive, well, and actively performing his duties as the Chief Executive of the corporation.
“The Nigerian Film Corporation wishes to inform the public unequivocally that all reports of Dr. Ali Nuhu’s death are baseless and misleading. He continues to discharge his responsibilities effectively following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on February 12, 2024,” the statement read.
The NFC also issued a stern warning to individuals behind the spread of the false information. According to the statement, steps are being taken to hold those responsible accountable, emphasizing that spreading such rumours carries serious consequences regardless of intent.
The corporation concluded by expressing appreciation to members of the public, as well as stakeholders across private and public sectors, for their concern and vigilance, reiterating that Ali Nuhu remains in good health and at the helm of the NFC.
