Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe has raised an alarm over a disturbing case of impersonation on YouTube, calling out an account allegedly set up to duplicate her original content and mislead her fans.
The actress, whose real name is Adebimpe Oyebade, took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, to express her frustration and anger over the fraudulent YouTube page, Mobimpewrite’s Stories, accusing the operator of stealing her content “video for video, poster for poster.”
According to her, the page has been reposting everything from her videos to graphics, including her personal messages, in a manner that confuses followers into believing it is her official channel.
“I’m TIRED. I’m FED UP,” she wrote. “Someone created a YouTube channel named MOBIMPEWRITE’s STORIES just to copy EVERYTHING I do… tricking people into believing it’s me.”
What seems to have hurt the actress most was the impersonator reposting her emotional birthday tribute to her mother, presenting it as their own. “That’s not inspiration. That’s disrespectful,” she added.
Mo Bimpe noted that her team has made multiple efforts to report the fake channel to YouTube, but the content theft has continued unabated. She lamented that the impersonator is gaining subscribers and engagement by profiting off her creativity and hard work.
“This person is determined to keep stealing my work, my sweat, my ideas, my creativity,” she said. “What you’re doing is deeply wrong… and one thing I can assure you is this: you will be caught. Soon.”
She also appealed to her fans to help report the fraudulent account and asked the public for legal and technical assistance on how to permanently shut the channel down.
In a passionate plea, she wrote, “I built MOBIMPE TV with tears, passion, and consistency. I won’t let someone hijack everything I’ve poured my heart and soul into.”
The actress, who is married to fellow actor Lateef Adedimeji, has built a strong online presence, especially on YouTube, where she shares personal stories, behind-the-scenes content, and moments from her life and career. Her fanbase has grown steadily, thanks to her consistency and genuine engagement with followers.
Her outcry has drawn sympathy and outrage from fans and fellow entertainers alike, with many urging YouTube to take swift action against the impersonator. Mo Bimpe’s situation is a reminder of the growing threat of online identity theft and content piracy, particularly for public figures in the digital age.
With this latest incident, she joins a list of Nigerian celebrities who have had to battle online impersonation, a problem that continues to challenge creators and entertainers across platforms. As the actress seeks justice, her fans remain vocal in support, hopeful that the matter will be resolved and her brand protected.
