Veteran Nigerian singer Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy of the legendary music duo P-Square, has openly criticized rising artistes for normalizing smoking in their music video visualizers.
In a recent social media post, Rudeboy questioned the trend of lighting up weed even before the music begins in many of these videos. He expressed his disapproval of how smoking has become a symbol of style among newer artistes, despite its impact on their health and finances.
“You’re smoking 50k weed and battling 1k Indomie without egg,” he wrote, pointing out the irony of spending heavily on weed while struggling to afford basic meals.
Rudeboy further urged upcoming musicians to adopt healthier lifestyles, noting that many of them appear malnourished and unwell, yet continue to spend extravagantly on smoking.
His statement has sparked a wave of online reactions, with several fans commending him for shedding light on an issue often ignored in the music industry.
