Popular Nigerian activist, Sea King, has publicly criticized controversial social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM), accusing him of derailing the pursuit of justice for late singer Mohbad by turning the situation into a personal grudge match—particularly against Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo.

In a strongly worded statement that has sparked widespread reactions online, Sea King stated:

“VeryDaftMan is not seeking justice for Mohbad — this is just a personal vendetta. VDM, leave Iyabo Ojo alone and tell us who k!lled Mohbad. Stop releasing a series of videos and go straight to the point. You want to turn this into a season film.”

The outspoken activist took issue with VDM’s recent social media behavior, which has included a string of video posts targeting Iyabo Ojo’s alleged interference or silence on the Mohbad death investigation. Sea King’s comments have reignited the ongoing debate around the motives of influencers and social media activists involved in the #JusticeForMohbad campaign.

Mohbad, a fast-rising Nigerian singer and former signee of Marlian Music, tragically died under mysterious circumstances in September 2023. His death led to massive public outcry, with fans and celebrities demanding a thorough investigation. Since then, several influencers—including VDM—have used their platforms to call for accountability. However, some observers believe the focus has shifted from the core issue to personal drama and online clout-chasing.

Sea King’s remarks aim to redirect public attention back to the real concern: uncovering the truth about Mohbad’s sudden death. He urged VDM and others to quit the theatrics and instead provide factual updates or evidence that could aid the investigation.

While VDM has yet to respond directly to Sea King’s accusations, the controversy raises fresh questions about the ethical responsibility of online figures leading public campaigns. Is the movement for justice for Mohbad still rooted in truth-seeking, or has it become a tool for personal vendettas and social media engagement?

As the drama unfolds, Nigerians continue to demand answers and transparency regarding the events that led to the untimely demise of one of Nigeria’s promising musical talents.
