The Lagos State Police Command has assured the public that TikTok influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, is safe, dismissing earlier reports of his kidnapping during a livestream on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin told Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday that preliminary investigations revealed the content creator was at home and unharmed.
“We are investigating the allegation, but we can confirm that the person in question, Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, is at home safe and sound,” Hundeyin said.
He added, “His vehicle is also intact, all his phones and properties, nothing was missing.”
The police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the incident was an actual kidnapping, a staged event, or a false alarm. Hundeyin emphasized, “That is what we are investigating. All his properties were intact, and there was no violence whatsoever.”
The 20-year-old influencer reportedly encountered armed men while livestreaming on TikTok as he was heading home. Viral footage showed him initially mistaking the men for security personnel before they took him away.
Peller first rose to prominence in 2021 through his TikTok videos and livestreams and has since expanded his reach to hosting shows and events on Twitch.
