Afrobeats singer Jaywon has addressed claims that he has taken sides in the ongoing feud between music stars Wizkid and Davido.
In a recent TikTok video, the This Year crooner expressed frustration over suggestions that his closeness to Davido means he is automatically against Wizkid. He described the assumption as baseless and driven by fan narratives.
“So because I’m close to Davido, that has automatically made me an enemy of Wizkid? Please make it make sense. Make me understand this. I don’t get it,” Jaywon said.
The singer maintained that being friends with one artist does not mean he holds any grudge against another, stressing that fans are often the ones fueling unnecessary division.
Similarly, fellow artist Iyanya was recently caught in the crossfire of fan speculations after he publicly supported Davido’s music. Some accused him of switching allegiances in the long-standing rivalry between the two superstars.
Iyanya has since debunked the claims, stating that he supports all his colleagues equally and harbours no bad blood toward anyone. He also blamed overzealous fans for escalating tensions that don’t exist among the artists themselves.
The Wizkid–Davido rift resurfaced last year after Wizkid took jabs on social media, hinting that Davido couldn’t match his relevance in the music industry. Davido later fired back, declaring that Wizkid’s career was already past its prime.
Both artists have maintained their distance publicly, while fans continue to fuel debate over loyalty and industry alliances.
