Nollywood actress Evan Okoro, popularly known for her role as Doctor Maria in Sexy Investment, has gone public with alarming claims that her estranged husband has been threatening her life.
In a tearful video shared online, the actress revealed she has been living in constant fear due to repeated threats and emotional torment from the man she once called her partner.
According to her, he vowed to kill her if she ever walked away from the marriage.
“If you leave me, I will kill you,” she quoted him, visibly shaken.
Okoro said she has formally reported the situation to the police to ensure her safety.
Speaking about the breakdown of the relationship, she expressed deep regret over the union.
“This marriage is not working. The shoe I took home is not my size,” she said.
She also disclosed that her family had recently contacted his family to discuss formalising the marriage, as her bride price had not been paid.
The actress accused her estranged partner of becoming increasingly aggressive and possessive, especially when it came to money matters. She recalled an incident where he tried to take funds she earned from a job in Lagos.
“I got a little money for an advert in Lagos, less than my normal endorsement fee. He wanted the money, and when I refused, he got angry. He didn’t even call to check on me after the trip. It’s been over two weeks now,” she said.
Okoro lamented that he has since withdrawn completely from the relationship, providing neither financial assistance nor emotional support. Despite raising the issue with his family, she claimed no meaningful action has been taken.
“He’s jealous of my success,” she stated, while addressing circulating rumours that he may be plotting against her following her recent property announcement.
“I built that house myself. I started it before he came into my life,” she added.
Clearly disturbed in the video, Okoro said she has been experiencing nightmares and hearing eerie voices, prompting her to go public with her ordeal.
“I’m not asking anyone for money. I just want to finish my house and focus on my life,” she said.
“If I keep living like this, I will go down six feet.”
Her emotional confession has sparked concern among fans and colleagues, with many urging authorities to take swift action to protect her.
