Political commentator and younger brother to former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, Isaac Fayose, has made a bold claim about his capacity to transform Lagos State’s economy if he were elected governor.

Speaking during a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Fayose confidently declared that he could generate as much as ₦2 billion within six months if given the opportunity to govern Lagos.

His statement sparked a conversation online, especially among youths and political observers, due to the audacity and specificity of his plans.

“If I’m Lagos State Governor, I can generate two billion in six months,” Fayose stated during the interview. “And if you ask me how, I will tell you.”

He proceeded to outline a series of economic strategies focused on transforming the entertainment and technology sectors of the state. According to him, his vision involves building a dedicated "music city" between Ikate and Ilashe accessible only by boat which would serve as a cultural and entertainment hub.

“You only go there by boat. You create an artist city, celebrate all our artists, build a hall of fame, and build apartments that you can sell for one million dollars,” he explained. “Bring Google, Netflix bring them all in. Turn Yahoo boys into tech boys. It’s so easy now. From Yahoo to tech. Yes now.”

Fayose lamented the state of the financial system in the country, accusing Nigerian banks of making access to loans and capital nearly impossible for ordinary citizens. “You go to the bank, they’ll ask for your mama’s DNA and your papa’s collateral before they give you anything,” he said. “Meanwhile, you are sitting on trillions and your people are poor.”

He also criticized the current administration’s management of Lagos resources, suggesting that despite the vast economic potential of the state, there is little to show for it in terms of widespread development and wealth creation.

“There is no money. You get to the airport and power is still gone,” he said, painting a picture of mismanagement and underperformance by the current government.

His comments quickly gained traction on social media, with many users either applauding his vision or questioning the feasibility of his plans. Some praised the innovative ideas and emphasis on tech and entertainment, while others saw it as political talk with little grounding in reality.

Although Isaac Fayose is not known for holding political office, his outspoken nature and connections to politics through his brother have kept him in the public eye. His recent statements have further fueled speculation that he may be nursing political ambitions, especially in the commercial capital of Nigeria

Whether or not Fayose’s ideas are practical, his remarks have added a fresh layer to ongoing conversations about leadership, innovation, and the untapped potential of Lagos State particularly in the entertainment and digital sectors.
