“I Was Depressed At a Point, I Was Suicidal” – Morayo Brown

Veteran Nigerian TV host Morayo Afolabi-Brown has revealed her struggle with depression, admitting that she even contemplated suicide.

Speaking with Chude, Brown, who recently left her position as host of TVC’s Your View after 12 years, said the feeling of being stuck in her career contributed to her emotional turmoil.

“I was depressed. At a point, I was suicidal. I walked on the express, hoping a car would hit me. It was that bad,” she confessed.

She explained that while she had long thought about leaving the show to explore new opportunities, she struggled to figure out how to make the transition. “It was when we [TVC] were ten years that I knew that it was time [for me] to go to the next thing. I have been harbouring that thought for a while but I didn’t know how to go about it. But last year, I got that light-bulb moment,” Brown said.

Her candid account highlights the hidden pressures and mental health challenges that media personalities often face behind the cameras.
