Rotimi Salami Opens Up About Marriage, Career Breakthrough, and Rumored Romance with Allwell Ademola

Popular Nollywood Yoruba actor, Rotimi Salami, has shed light on his personal life, marriage, and his long-standing friendship with actress and producer Allwell Ademola.

Speaking in an interview with fellow actress Biola Bayo, the award-winning actor revealed that he once prayed to God to bless him with a wife just like his mother — and according to him, that prayer was answered.

“I prayed to God that I wanted to marry a woman like my mother, and God answered me,” Rotimi shared.

Addressing his relationship with Allwell Ademola, Rotimi narrated how their paths crossed during a career-defining moment. According to him, actress Ronke Odusanya was planning to produce three new movies and needed a fresh face. Allwell, who was consulting for Ronke at the time, introduced him to her.

“God bless Allwell for me. She guided me down the path that gave birth to Rotimi Salami. From that day until now, I get jobs every day,” he said.

The actor admitted that their close working relationship sparked rumors that they were romantically involved. “People said I was dating Allwell. Allwell even called me and said people said we were dating,” he recalled.

Rotimi also disclosed that he is a Muslim, with his full name being Rotimi Abdulrasaq Salami. He reflected on his challenging journey in the Nigerian movie industry, revealing that although he began his career in 2005, his big break came in 2017.

“I suffered; life was tough. There were days I didn’t have transport and had to go for auditions. Some passengers who didn’t even know me supported my transport fare,” he recounted.

The Yoruba movie star further shared that he once battled severe inferiority complex, which only faded after he gained fame. He encouraged aspiring actors and entrepreneurs to focus on helping others if they want to succeed.

“If you want to be successful in life, you should consider solving people’s problems,” he advised.
