Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Chike, has made a bold statement about his personal life, revealing that marriage is not in his plans.

In a recent interview, the Running To You crooner explained that he does not believe marriage is for him, stressing that his happiness depends more on financial stability than on settling down.

Chike, who has continued to thrill fans with his music and soulful voice, described marriage as a “stupid step” in his personal opinion, noting that he would rather focus on building the kind of life that brings him true fulfillment.

“I need a lot of money to be happy,” he admitted, clarifying that it is not about greed but about creating the lifestyle he desires for himself.

The singer further explained that his views on marriage are personal and not meant to condemn those who see it differently. According to him, his priority is ensuring financial comfort and stability before considering other aspects of life.

Beyond his comments about marriage, Chike also opened up about his journey into music. Interestingly, he revealed that becoming a musician was not his original career plan.

It was only after his university education that he discovered his deep passion for music and decided to pursue it fully. Today, that decision has paid off, as he has become one of Nigeria’s most respected voices in the music industry.

Chike’s honesty about his personal choices comes at a time when conversations about marriage, finances, and personal fulfillment are gaining more attention among young Nigerians. Many fans, while surprised by his blunt remarks, have also praised him for speaking his truth without fear of judgment.

The award-winning singer, known for his hit songs such as Boo of the Booless and Running To You, has consistently used his platform to share not just his music, but also his perspective on life.

For Chike, happiness comes from financial freedom and being able to live on his own terms, rather than following societal expectations.

“I think it’s a stupid step to get married,” Chike emphasized during the interview. “That’s my opinion. What matters most to me is money, because that’s what will give me the kind of happiness I need.”

Despite his stance, Chike has continued to show generosity to his fans. Recently, he made headlines after gifting a fan ₦100,000 on social media to help purchase a laptop.

Many praised him for the kind gesture, highlighting that beyond his views on marriage, he remains deeply connected to his supporters.

As the debate around his comments continues, Chike appears unbothered and focused on his music career. His openness about his choices may not sit well with everyone, but it reflects a growing shift among entertainers who are increasingly vocal about prioritizing their own happiness over societal pressure.

For Chike, marriage may not be on the horizon, but his music, generosity, and refreshing honesty continue to keep him in the spotlight as one of Nigeria’s most unique voices.
