Celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has opened up about why he missed Davido and Chioma’s highly anticipated white wedding in Miami, Florida.
He revealed that ongoing difficulties with securing a US visa prevented him from attending the event in person.
In an emotional Instagram post on Saturday, Cubana Chief Priest shared his bittersweet feelings. While he celebrated the couple’s joy, he also expressed profound disappointment at being absent on such an important day.
He wrote, “Woke up this morning with mixed feelings. I’m happy, and I’m still sad at the same time. Sometimes, God has a way of making you understand that you are powerless regardless of all you may think you have.”
Responding to critics who questioned his absence, he added, “I appreciate the bashing because that has given me multiple reasons and proofs to apply again.”
Directly appealing to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, he pleaded, “#usinnigeria do it for me this time. You can clearly see how disappointed and hurt the world is to see me absent at my best friend’s wedding. You need to give me access to get my fat ass into America. Well, delay is never denial — CP is still hopeful.”
Though he was not physically at the ceremony, he revealed that his wife and family attended to represent him. “The largest part of me, which is my family, my beautiful, elegant, expensive, eloquent and sophisticated wife #_deangels, is there to share in this luxury blissful experience. So I’m there in body and spirit,” he wrote.
He also sent heartfelt congratulations to the newlyweds: “I’m wishing my best friend #davido and his beautiful wife #thechefchi an amazing wedlock.”
Cubana Chief Priest confirmed he intends to reapply for the visa soon, once again urging the embassy, “#usinnigeria I’m in again next week. Please give me access to the greatest country in the world. This pain is really paining.”
Earlier this year, during an interview on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds, he explained that a mistake made on his initial visa application years ago continues to affect his ability to enter the United States, leading to repeated denials.
“I have been denied access to America. If I had a visa to enter Yankee today, it would be a dream come true,” he said.
“Somebody filled out my form when I was much younger and was trying to get into America. Some mistakes were coming up during interviews. And I think they have it on their system. Anytime I came, it kept popping up.”
He added, “David tells me about America and the lifestyle. It is something I want to experience. I hope very soon I am going to get access to get into Yankee.”
Although, friends and other celebrities gathered in Miami on Saturday to celebrate Davido and Chioma’s pre-wedding party, joining the couple in marking their special union.
