Chibuzor Iyele, better known as Hermes from Big Brother Naija, recently shared a touching story about his difficult childhood growing up without his mother.
In an interview on WithChude, Hermes revealed that his mother left the family after his father’s financial situation took a downturn. Despite the challenges, he credits his father’s unwavering love and care for helping him overcome those hardships.
Hermes explained that his father, who once worked with UNICEF, lost his job, forcing the family to relocate to an unfinished building. He recounted,
“When things got bad, we moved into an uncompleted building. My mum didn’t want to come with us, so she left that night and didn’t return for seven years.”
Despite his mother’s absence, Hermes says he harbors no resentment toward her. He said,
“My dad raised us with love, and that’s why I still have love for my mum today. Their marriage wasn’t happy, and maybe she just did what she had to do.”
His story sheds light on the challenges of family dynamics and emphasizes the importance of forgiveness even in difficult times.
